About

Mitchell Goodwin is (or was, if he has recently died) a game developer with 25+ years professional development experience, 30+ years unprofessional development experience, 2 years semi-professional gardening experience and 16 & a half hours beard stroking practice.

Mitchell started making games on the Commodore Vic20 and it became a lifelong passion as well as a career, even though he wasn't very good at it. Since barely acquiring a computer science degree by messing about making lightshows, getting very very drunk and occasionally half-completing a 16-bit game or 2, he has worked at a number of different companies, including a long stint at Sony in London. He has worked on titles released on each PlayStation and spends much of his time these days contemplating the economic implications of the continued existence of the Great Descending Bongochimp while deadheading roses.

Mitchell occasionally spends time writing very silly things like the Imaginary News Network, or this old set of pages in which the capital of Peru is mistaken for an animal on Patrick Stewart's head.

For a very long time,
an Old Man, when not pottering about in the garden or going to work, made things in his spare hours.

On rare occasions, other Old Men (mostly Steve) have joined in this process and then we make things that are a little bit better. Once or twice Steve and I sat down and recorded our thoughts about some of that process in podcast form, but it probably was mostly lies and wasn't very entertaining unless you were there at the time. (Except the bit where I kept calling Steve a c*** which was both entertaining and true).

The games that lasted longest (either The Universal or A tractor depending on the mood) are the work of many hands over many years, with particular contributions from Steve/Fooli (Sound, Models and Graphics), Device (coding, hosting and production), Hedgehog (Art, Web-dev, design, proper coding, production and project management), Magicfinger (Web-development, community and production) and a huge list of others who have helped out in various ways over the years.
